Some of you might have noticed already that there is a new logo on the website! I am very happy and proud to have a custom-made unique symbol that describes my work as a pilot and photographer at the same time. It was created by Falk Töpfer, a German artist and graphics designer, whose work I have always loved!
Background
He found his inspiration in the badges of the past that were used by the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom and other great flying squadrons, representing the heritage of the early aviators and serving as a reminder of the good old days. Most of the values embodied by pilots during the first decades are still important today and I personally believe that being a pilot is something special in our age as well, even though many people compare us to bus drivers…
The central and most important of the logo is of course the camera, which is self-explanatory. Yet combined with the wings and the banner at the bottom featuring the “company” initials FGAP (for Felix Gottwald Aviation Photography), it gets that combined meaning and I bet some people will only realise at a second glance that this is in fact the drawing of a DLSR.
New Logo Usage
The new logo will be integrated as a watermark in my pictures in the future and also be featured in my videos. Besides that I have made some slight design changes to the website to harmonise its look and feel with the logo. But now it is time for you to tell me, what you think about my new logo – do you like it or not?
