Having arrived in Dubai in the early morning hours on Monday, I have had a busy time since then and hardly any sleep! Contrary to what one would usually think, going to the Dubai Airshow every day is hard work and it usually starts with getting up at six o’clock in the morning after just a couple of hours sleep. After getting ready I head to the metro that takes me to Ibn Battuta station near Jebel Ali, where free shuttle buses wait that again take up to one hour and fifteen minutes to go to Dubai World Central and back – it really is a long journey and the new airport is much further away than I expected.
The show area is big, but not huge. There are a lot of aircraft on display, but they are positioned close together and that makes photography a bit difficult. Nevertheless some good motives are possible and the fact that the general public is not allowed in means there are only few people standing in or around aircraft – sometimes it is possible to get into aircraft with nobody else inside and you then have all the time in the world to take photos. Contrary some aircraft can not be visited at all or only at certain times and with a bit of luck.

I will probably not be online within the next few days as there is a busy air show day ahead of me, followed by 48 hours of non-stop flying: this evening from Dubai to Muscat, then to Dhaka, then back to Abu Dhabi and then home via Frankfurt or Munich.
