Besides taking photos, I have started taking aviation videos a while ago. The highlights are of course sequences from the MD-11 cockpit and I am trying my best to get better and better at the art of videography! The newest video are displayed at the top of the page. You are welcome to check-out my YouTube channel, too.
Landing the MD-11
Here is a compilation of landings in the MD-11 as seen from the cockpit! Included are some fantastic sceneries and challenging airports, but also some major hubs.
Approach to Atlanta
It is know to be the biggest airport in the world: Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Intl. (ATL/KATL) in Georgia, USA. In this video we are arriving to runway 27L on a rather clear summer day.
Departure from Frankfurt
It is a clear sunny morning, as we take-off from our home base Frankfurt Rhein-Main in Germany (FRA/EDDF). Nothing beats flying on a great day like this
Approach to Chicago O’Hare – UNCUT
Same flight as below to Chicago, but this time UNCUT. More than 30 minutes of real-time coverage including all ATC transmissions.
Approach to Chicago O’Hare
We are flying into Chicago O’Hare (ORD/KORD) on a partly cloudy day.
Approach to Viracopos at night
Approach to Viracopos Airport (VCP/SBKP) near Campinas, Brazil. You can clearly see the change in light as the sun goes down – what started as a flight during daytime turns into a landing in pitch-black night.
Approach to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion during sunset
Approach to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV/LLBG) in the late evening as seen from the cockpit of a Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 freighter. We are coming in over the Mediterranean Sea for an approach to runway 08.
Approach and taxi-in at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta
It’s a perfect day to fly into East Africa’s biggest airport – Jomo Kenyatta near Nairobi (NBO/HKJK), Kenya. The Head of the Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 fleet, Captain Fokko Doyen is piloting the aircraft after on a flight from Frankfurt, with me as copilot talking on the radio. See the approach to runway 06, as well as the taxi-in from the cockpit and the outside!
Bush-flying in Africa onboard the Cessna Caravan – Nairobi to Nguruman
Join a bush-pilot in Africa onboard the Cessna Grand Caravan of Yellow Wings Air Services on a flight from Nairobi Wilson (WIL/HKNW) to Nguruman Rangers Post. See the ultra-low arrival and landing on a rough dirt-strip, as well as the departure scratching the tops of the trees.
Sunrise over the Clouds
A short time-lapse sequence during an early morning flight with the sun rising over the clouds. The video was taken from the cockpit of a Lufthansa Cargo McDonnell Douglas MD-11 somewhere over the Balkans near Greece.
SHJ to HKG – the full story from the MD-11 cockpit
What a fantastic day this was! Join me on a flight from Sharjah to Hong Kong and take a look in the cockpit as we are getting everything ready and taking-off. The approach during the night is a treat as well!
Sunrise over India
This video is of a sunrise over Western India near Mumbai (Bombay) as seen from the cockpit.
Here are some of my very early first tries of taking videos…
Approach, landing and taxi in at Frankfurt Airport runway 25R on board a Lufthansa Boeing 737-300
Full approach to runway 25R and experience a landing on board a Lufthansa Boeing 737-330 (reg. D-ABXS) on an early summer morning. As the aircraft is taxiing in to its parking position, you will get a free apron tour of Frankfurt Airport and see some of the maintenance hangars, the terminals and of course loads of aircraft from around the world, including the biggest aircraft in the world – the Airbus A380 of Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines!
Loading of a MD-11 Freighter
A short sequence of three uncut videos that show a McDonnell Douglas MD-11F is being loaded in Seoul Incheon (ICN/RKSI), Korea.
Asiana Airlines Boeing 747-400 – arrival in Osaka Kansai
An Asiana Airlines Boeing 747-400 is arriving at Osaka Kansai Airport (KIX/RJBB), inbound from Seoul Incheon (ICN/RKSI). The marshaller is leading in the captain from an elevated platform, while the rest of the ground staff eagerly waits for the aircraft to reach its final parking position. Funny thing to note is the marshaller right next to the aircraft, performing simultaneously with his colleague on the platform.
