Felix Gottwald is a professional pilot and internationally published aviation photographer with a lifelong passion for flight. His journey began at just six years old, inspired by his very first flight, and ultimately led him to the renowned Lufthansa Flight School in Bremen, Germany. After earning his pilot’s license in 2008, he went on to fly the Airbus A320 family, as well as McDonnell Douglas MD-11 and Boeing 777 freighters across the globe. Today, Felix pilots the iconic Boeing 747 – the legendary Queen of the Skies – a privilege reserved for only a select few in aviation.
Alongside his aviation career, Felix has built a reputation as a distinguished photographer, capturing the beauty of flight from unique perspectives. His work has been featured by leading airlines, manufacturers, and unions, as well as in globally recognized publications such as AirlinerWorld, Aero International, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. In 2015, Hannover Airport showcased his photography in a dedicated exhibition, underscoring his influence in the field.
Felix’s images have also been published by major media outlets including Daily Mail, The Telegraph, and Bild, and he continues to contribute to agencies such as AirTeamImages. His ability to combine technical expertise with artistic vision has made his portfolio widely admired within both the aviation and photography communities.
In addition to his cockpit and photography work, Felix has established himself as a successful publisher of aviation calendars. His popular series dedicated to iconic aircraft – including the MD-11, Airbus, and Boeing calendars – has reached enthusiasts and professionals worldwide. Building on this success, he is now releasing “AIRLINERS 2026”, a new calendar that celebrates the diversity and beauty of commercial aviation with carefully curated imagery.
Today, Felix Gottwald is recognized not only as a skilled commercial pilot with thousands of flight hours but also as a creative storyteller of aviation through his lens — sharing the wonder of flight with audiences worldwide.
